I’m Tom. I live between London & San Francisco, where I build and invest in the future

I’ve loved learning how the world works & making things for as long as I can remember. I wrote my first program when I was 10 years old, after bringing an old BBC Micro computer home from school. I spent my spare time as a kid building websites & computers, cracking software, reading about science & taking apart everything in sight.

I studied Physics at Oxford to understand how everything works at the most fundamental level. I also spent a lot of that time rowing, learning to play poker and got into computational simulation and machine learning through my Masters thesis on agent based modelling of social dynamics. My Masters also focused on simulation of complex systems, BioPhysics / systems biology & game theory.

I spent the next few years trying to win in Financial Markets at world class Hedge Funds, where I managed billions of dollars in capital and solved hard, novel, high stakes problems. I was lucky enough to work with some of the smartest people I’ve ever met, learn a lot about how the world works, how to build great teams and execute under extreme pressure.

I left the world of Finance to build the future and innovate in more positive-sum games. Throughout my startup journey I've loved meeting and working with inspiring and optimistic investors and founders. I've chewed a lot of glass, but learned a huge amount in the process about validating ideas, building & distributing AI product, building in early-stage teams & fundraising. I've built communities from scratch, grown product to hundreds of thousands of users at zero-cost & raised millions of dollars in venture capital.

Today, I get to advise & invest in other great founders, while exploring and develop technologies that enable humans to expand their creativity & knowledge. I'm deeply interested in maximising human potential & creating a better world through AI, decentralization & biotech. I also love to ski, climb, surf, kitesurf & explore the world.
